Year 7 and 8 students share their rendition of the Stations of the Cross.

At the end of Term 1 we remembered the events of Holy Week and took part in a recount of the events leading to Jesus’ crucifixion. The Year 7 and 8 students read through the Stations explaining and helping us reflect on what it may have been like if we were there. It was moving as the students reverently walked through the different freeze frames. Thank you to Mrs Gannaway, Mrs Hanne and the intermediate students for their hard work.

Year 7 and Korean

Every Monday Justina comes in and shares her knowledge of Korean culture and language. This week we enjoyed a spicy treat. Apparently it was the second cup that really hit the spot. The drinks were close at hand!

ANZAC up close

New Brighton Catholic showed reverence and respect as we gathered to remember and acknowledge the sacrifice made by brave kiwis. We took time to learn about Gallipoli and other conflicts that we were involved with. One special research task involved rows of crosses that represent soldiers who died in service. It was a sobering sight and gave the students a perspective of the impact wars have.

Marian Visit 2026

Last week we were visited by Marian College Principal and 2 former students. They sat down with the Year 7 and 8 girls and shared their experiences of high school. It was great to see Carys and Jennifer again and hear their stories.

King and Country

ANZAC day gave us the inspiration to focus on Gallipoli and New Zealand’s efforts during worldwide conflicts. We are always quick to consider human rights and interject when things are unjust. The text. King and Country shared perspectives of Māori who were called up but may have had misgivings about fighting for a King they were only recently fighting against. We used this and several other texts to consider life for soldiers in the trenches. Here is an example of the info graphs we created by summarising and synthesysing different texts. Surfing the Blue Fantastic

Twas a cloudy morning when we set off to the beach but by the time we arrived the sun had burnt through and it was awesome. Archie, Tom, George and Jacob (?) taught us about the dangers and skills we need to conquer the waves.m Hugh and Liam went out the back while the rest of us endeavoured to stand up.

Camp 2026

Intermediates in Glentui

The rain fell but we were booked so we had to make the most of things and boy did we. Archery in the deluge was a biot challening but the silver lining was it kept the bugs away.

We had heaps of fun and owe a lot to the adults who helped us, including the Glentui staff who were amazing!

We will be back.
